Finance and Human Resource Manager

Job Description

Under the supervision of the Executive Director of the New Jersey Children’s Alliance, the Finance and Human Resource Manager is responsible for all of the accounting and human resources functions of the organization.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Perform daily, monthly, quarterly, and annual accounting activities including accounts payable, accounts receivable, reconciliations of bank, credit card and PayPal accounts, daily cash position and cash projections and bi-weekly payroll.
  • Process payroll in outside payroll system; prepare and enter payroll journal entry into QuickBooks.
  • Maintain record of all Paid Time Off (PTO) requests and update payroll to reflect time-off.
  • Preserve all Human Resource records.
  • Ensure that New Jersey Children’s Alliance is in compliance with all Human Resources related guidelines by State and Federal Human Resource Laws and regulations.
  • Maintain employee handbook with updated policies and program introductions.
  • Facilitate orientation of all new employees with appropriate HR processes
  • Summarize current financial status by preparing balance sheet, income statement and grant reports on a monthly, quarterly, and yearly
  • Maintain financial security by following GAAP (Generally Accepted Accounting Principles) and internal records.
  • Analyze business processes and accounting policies to maintain and strengthen internal controls and update, as
  • Support outside audit firms with annual audits by providing necessary documentation and effective
  • Prepare annual NJCA budget with Executive Director and provide monthly and quarterly budget to actual analysis.
  • Prepare and submit quarterly and annual reports in accordance with grant requirements.
  • Prepare grant budgets with Executive Director, provide monthly expense to grant analysis, and maintain all vendor
  • Prepare budget modifications, as necessary, for reporting and/or funding reimbursement and monitor payments to NJCA from funder(s).
  • Maintain Grant Comparison Spreadsheet which shows similar expense across grants on a monthly, quarterly, and yearly basis.
  • Serve as a member of the Board’s Finance Committee.
  • Support NJCA staff as needed.
  • Support CACs as needed.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • 4-year Accounting Degree or 3-5 years accounting experience
  • Expertise with QuickBooks
  • Extensive knowledge of US GAAP
  • Advanced computer skills in MS Office (Word, Excel, Access, Outlook, PowerPoint, Publisher, SharePoint), accounting software and
  • Excellent organizational, analytical, and problem-solving skills
  • Strong attention to detail and confidentiality
  • Ability to multi-task and work independently

SALARY RANGE: $55,000-$70,000 commensurate with education and experience.
