POSITION TITLE: PROGRAM SUPPORT SPECIALIST, Full-time

REPORTS TO: Program Director, Finding Words/Child First-New Jersey

LOCATION: Morristown, NJ

POSITION OVERVIEW: The New Jersey Children’s Alliance (NJCA) is seeking to fill a PROGRAM
SUPPORT SPECIALIST position with the Finding Words/Child First – New Jersey (FW/CF-NJ)
program, New Jersey’s forensic interviewing academy. FW/CF-NJ trains detectives, prosecutors
and child protective specialists in forensic interviewing techniques for child victims of crime,
especially child abuse victims. FW/CF-NJ has a twenty-year record of training excellence funded by
the New Jersey Task Force on Child Abuse & Neglect (NJTFCAN) through the Children’s Justice Act
(CJA) federal legislation. The academy trains investigative interviewers from law enforcement and
child welfare in forensically defensible interviewing techniques.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
• Organizes all necessary information, including supporting documentation and reports
pertaining to Finding Words/Child First – New Jersey (FW/CF-NJ) project
• Reporting requirements include but not limited to financial records, billing, quarterly
statistical reports, completing budget narratives, and other documents for grant maintenance.
• Coordinates activities and logistics to provide regional forensic interview trainings, peer
review and other statewide training initiatives as directed
• Recruits trainees as directed by the Finding Words/Child First – New Jersey (FW/CF-NJ)
Program Director
• Maintains and continually facilitates positive relationships with law enforcement, child
protective services and other trainee disciplines
• Prepares all training materials and presentations for dissemination at state or national
training sessions
• Provides support to faculty and trainees throughout training periods
• Coordinates logistics for actor consultants to the project
• Arranges all logistical planning including food, student interviews, transportation and
activities necessary to meet training objectives
• Organizes ongoing evaluation of faculty members and actor consultants of FW/CF-NJ
• Communicates with the national organization Zero Abuse Project (ZAP) and state chapters
about regional forensic interview training as directed by the Program Director
• Submits required evaluation data to the Zero Abuse Project (ZAP)
• Maintain records, documentation and all correspondence pertaining to FW/CF-NJ as
directed by the Program Director
• Organizes ongoing support to graduates of FW/CF-NJ and their respective counties as
directed by the Program Director
• Administratively communicates with each respective county’s Multidisciplinary Team
(MDTs) under the direction of the Program Director for training initiatives.

• Organizes videotape review of forensic interviews county forensic
interviewers/investigators for feedback by the Finding Words/Child First Program Director
or faculty as requested
• Attends staff meetings as required by the Program Director of FW/CF – NJ and Executive
Director of NJCA
• Attends meetings and national conferences as required by FW/CF-NJ grant requirements
• Travels to required trainings to be held statewide in New Jersey and attendance at the
national conference conducted by the Zero Abuse Project
• Maintains regular contact with project personnel, vendors, NJCA and other state or nonprofit organization as directed by the Program Director
• Performs any additional duties as directed by the Program Director of NJ/CF-NJ that are
reasonable and within the scope of an Administrative Assistant duties as defined above
• Adheres to the Human Resource standards identified by the New Jersey Children’s Alliance

MINIMUM PROFESSIONAL REQUIREMENTS AND SKILLS:
• Bachelor’s Degree in Social Work, Psychology, Law Enforcement, Criminal Justice, Sociology,
Child Advocacy or a related field.
• Prior experience as an Administrative Assistant or Program Assistant in the applied fields of
Social Work, Psychology, Law, Criminal Justice, Sociology, Child Advocacy or related field.
• Knowledge of laws regarding child abuse and of child development and/or previous work
with multidisciplinary teams preferred, but not required.
• Proficient in Microsoft Word, PowerPoint, and Excel.
• Ability to travel statewide and to the annual national conference, 10 percent travel.
• Strong organizational and time management skills.
• Excellent written, verbal and interpersonal communication skills.

SALARY RANGE: $37,000 – $42,000 commensurate with education and experience.
