UPDATE ON THE CRIME VICTIMS FUND STABILIZATION ACT
Here’s the latest from NCA on the CVFSA. (Featuring some of our NJCA staff members!)

House majority just 11 representatives away as CVFSA co-sponsors shatter 200 mark
Other bills may be occupying the news cycle, but for the Children’s Advocacy Center movement, it is still full steam ahead on the Crime Victims Fund Stabilization Act (CVFSA), H.R. 909 in the House and S. 1892 in the Senate. Today, we stand at 207 House co-sponsors of the bill, on the threshold of a 218-seat majority! Your efforts have us that much closer to bringing up this bill for a vote where it is expected to pass easily. Great work adding many Republican House members as well!
Even as the Senate debates President Trump’s budget reconciliation bill, we’ve still added four more co-sponsors to get us to a nice start of 10 in the Senate! We expect growth in these numbers over the course of July as House members return from Independence Day holiday, and Senators take up business in the wake of the ongoing vote-a-rama on Capitol Hill. Expect to add solid House support this month, but don’t let up with your calls and emails to put us over the line and to grow our fledgling support in the Senate.

Just a few of our CAC advocates leading the charge at last month’s CAC Hill Day, June 10. Hundreds of CAC leaders, staff, volunteers, and partners visited their Congressional representatives to build relationships and support for CACs. (There were other groups pictured, but who wants to see them?)
| CAC advocates know the importance of stabilizing the Crime Victims Fund. It provides a non-tax, steady source of funds for states to pay for victim services, like therapy, forensic interviews, and family support through CACs and other community agencies. Instability in the fund threatens budget cuts and even closures for these crucial lifeline agencies serving kids and families experiencing abuse. We’ll keep you updated on the progress of both bills.
