School Tragedy Advocacy Center Response Team Training

Our friends at the New York State Children’s Alliance are offering a training on S.T.A.R.T.  School Tragedy Advocacy Center Response Team
Thursday, January 26, 2023 2:00pm – 3:15pmPresented by Carrie Paschall

We all want to believe that a mass casualty event will never happen in our community, and the hope is that it never does.  But we all see the news stories of these events happening in our schools, malls, grocery stores and other areas where people gather – and we cannot escape the fear that eventually our community will be faced with unspeakable tragedy.

What we do know is that Children’s Advocacy Centers are the places communities rely on for investigative support, crisis intervention and healing services.  This presentation will assist advocacy centers in coordinating a proactive and reactive response plan so that if they are ever called on to assist their community in a tragic mass casualty event, they will be prepared and ready.

“Plan for the worst case scenario, and then pray you NEVER  have to respond.”  ~Carrie Paschall

Objectives:

Participants will understand the “why” behind the need to have a plan written for a Children’s Advocacy Center.

Participants will have a step by step guide on how to get STARTed in creating a response plan.

Participants will understand what plan maintenance is and how to keep the conversation going at their CAC.
