Research shows children with disabilities experience abuse and neglect at disproportionate rates. This training is intended for multidisciplinary professionals seeking to advance their understanding of best practices for accommodating children with disabilities in a child advocacy setting.

Participants will learn about biases and assumptions related to investigating cases, practical accommodations, and how these accommodations can be made within policies and practices to best serve child victims and witnesses with disabilities. 

Learning Objectives:

  • Participants will be able to identify common biases regarding investigating cases with children with disabilities. 
  • Participants will be able to describe the adaptations and considerations for accommodating children with disabilities in a child advocacy center setting. 
  • Participants will be able to recall pre-interview considerations for cases involving child victims and witnesses with disabilities.
