NJ Task Force on Abuse and Neglect
2026 Conference

From the Task Force:
Dear colleagues,
When we think about the direction of our lives, much of our trajectory can be traced back to the experiences we had when we were teenagers.
Adolescence is a time in our lives when so much is happening. You’re developing lifelong friendships, exerting some independence on your life choices, engaging in self-reflection, and maybe even creating the foundations for a belief and values system which will carry into adulthood.
You’re also incredibly adaptive to learning new things, processing new information, and forming new pathways and connections.
From the child welfare space, when we think about the adolescent time period, it’s a time for opportunity – nurturing can lead to growth, maturation, safe choices, and positive outcomes. Conversely, unmitigated trauma or the lack of a healthy adult figure can lead you down a different path.
As child welfare professionals, it’s important that we understand the opportunity and seek out positive outcomes for the young people we serve.
The New Jersey Task Force on Child Abuse and Neglect, in partnership with the Department of Children and Families, is excited to welcome you to this year’s NJTFCAN conference, WIRED FOR GROWTH: The Incredible Opportunity of Adolescence. The conference will be held on FRIDAY, OCTOBER 30, 2026, from 9:30 AM – 3:30 PM at the HILTON EAST BRUNSWICK HOTEL, 3 Tower Center Boulevard, East Brunswick, NJ 08816.
Registration is free, and continuing education credits will be available for licensed social workers.
At the conference, you will hear moving personal testimony of the impact of choices made during adolescence, and the potential for redemption and resilience on the other end. You’ll also hear about the brain science around what goes on during the adolescent time period, and how we can leverage the unique development happening in the adolescent brain to support young people in achieving a healthy adulthood.
Register today at www.stockton.edu/tfcan
Thank you for your ongoing interest in helping adolescents navigate their teenage years, and we look forward to seeing you this fall at the 2026 NJTFCAN Conference!
