Navigating and Managing Implicit Bias and Microaggressions in Serving Others
Description: Microaggressions occur more often than we would like to acknowledge.  When a person experiences microaggressions in the context of a collaborative and supportive relationship the impact can be devastating. The result can turn people away from one another and create a climate of hostile and social exclusion. In this 3-hour workshop, participants will look closely at implicit bias and microaggressions. Participants will engage in a community conversation on stereotypes, microaggressions and implicit bias. Discuss where they feel challenged and ways to minimize occurrences of implicit bias and different ways to respond when you are the recipient or offender of microaggressions.
