An Introduction to Understanding and Serving Children with Problematic Sexual Behavior
June 20 @ 10:30 am - 2:30 pm
Webinar
Description: Sexual development is a typical part of childhood development. However, sometimes the sexual behaviors of children are more than the result of age-typical curiosity. In fact, data collected by the National Children’s Alliance estimates that approximately a quarter of sexual offenses against children are committed by other youth. This introductory webinar will provide an overview of children with problematic sexual behaviors, and will discuss typical sexual development, and the appropriate identification of concerning and problematic sexual behaviors. Participants will learn facts that dispel common myths about these children and will learn strategies to engage families and instill hope. This session will also review the appropriate language to use and the next steps for treatment and safety planning with families.
