On Tuesday, December 13, NJCA offers a presentation on Abusive Head Trauma, 10:30am – 2:00pm.

Join us for our free statewide MDT virtual training event Abusive Head Trauma: Medical and Investigative Perspective. Hosted by the New Jersey Children’s Alliance.

This training will include two workshops:

1)  The Medical Perspective: What is Abusive Head Trauma? In this workshop we will discuss the historical and epidemiology of abusive head trauma. In addition, this workshop will provide knowledge of physical injuries, mechanisms of trauma, and extracranial injuries. This workshop will also address the short-term and long-term impacts of abusive head trauma, and challenges that a diagnosis may encounter.

2) The Investigative Perspective: How are Abusive Head Trauma cases handled? This workshop will focus us walking us through the investigative process of a case that involves abusive head trauma. We will also discuss trial preparation, common challenges encountered by the defense, and how charging decisions are made.
